I recently had to fix a laptop for a friend because it didn't want to boot up anymore.

I ran the built in diagnosis test (it's a dell XPS laptop by the way), and the memory test failed.

Here's a picture:

Don't worry- no information was lost when the right side of the picture got cut off a bit.... that is all the information there.

Should the lappy be sent back?

You can replace the RAM yourself if you want to.
Download the manual and call Dell for a replacement if it is in warranty.
(Sorry, I can't see your picture here at work).

If there is more than one memory chip, test each one separately.

If you have seen the picture, do you agree that the RAM is dead?

I think the entire lappy will be sent back to Dell. Well, it depends on my friends- it's their call.

I just want to get confirmation of high probability that ram is dead.
