Hi guys! I bought an ASUS HD 4870 video card and I want to remove the fan and heat sink so I can put an arctic cooler accelero twin turbo on it.

I want to make sure I go about this the safe way, so could you guys give me some pointers on removing the fan and heat sink? I have the new ASUS 4870 card, this one doesn't have the little case that pushes heat out the back of the case, mine just has a fan on a heat sink blowing air straight on the video card processor. I have never done this to a video card before(probably cause they never got this hot) and I don't want to damage it.

Thanks a lot

If I'm correct you have this one:http:

All you have to do is remove the four screws on the bottom of the heat sink and that will come right off. then read the instructions on how to install your after market HSF, put it back on (and be sure to apply thermal compound [Arctic Silver 5 if you have or can get some]), and if your after market solution comes with memory heatsinks go ahead and put them on too. Then you should be set.
