Hey there everyone I am new here so had a few questions about building a new pc or upgrading my current rig.I have upgrading my computers before with memory and video cards but I am a novice at building.I would like to upgrade my system with 2-4 gigs of memory so I could play warhammer online with good graphics and smooth fps or near it with a geforce 8800 gt 512,if that wont work I might build one so here are my current specs.

HP 530 J media center xp
Pentium 4 3.00ghz PCIe
1 gig ram
radeon x300( yeah I know it sucks)
250 Gig hard drive
mother board not sure
power supply 400

Well thats the current so I need to know if I should just go for a full upgrade by building or just add more ram,and a new video card such as the 8800gt 512 since it is cheap now.Any help with rig parts lists or full build suggestions are welcome thanks.

i think a brand new build will be better. nothing can be reuse apart from then HDD and the optical(maybe)

build a intel quad core and a 4870 graphics card should last you a good while get a decent PSU remeber!:)

Looks to me like you are about ready for a new PC. Probably almost everything will need replacing.

yep thats a fairly outdated computer. as proximon just about everything would need to be upgraded. you would be better off to start from scratch.

well any suggestions on what to build then and what parts.Thats the problem I am having choosing the parts,I could probably keep my hardrive since it is pretty good sata 7200rpm.I would like to know the parts you guys would suggest or even what you have.I do know the video card I was looking at was a 8800gt 512 pcie which is cheap right now and very popular.

just very confused on what willl work well ,just want something decent enough for warhammer online and cod4 etc....also good enough for further upgrade with out killing my wallet trying to work on a limited budget would like to keep it under 1k.so any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Ok, so we have your budget (<$1000). Just a couple more questions before we can really give you a solid answer.

Are you in the US?
Is this a gaming build or do you do any heavy multitasking (like video editing, etc...)?
What model is your monitor?
Are you at all interested in OCing?

A new build would be best. If you are on an extreme budget go with AMD (~$400, can still smoke yer current Rig). If you have $500+ go with Intel, and a 4850/4870.

(A dual core will be more than enough if you are just running something like an MMO)
