Looking to buy a new tv. I am thinking of the LCD ones... 46"
From what I have been reading, Samsung makes a pretty good tv. I get lost however when I start looking at the new models.
The A650 looks like a solid tv and is not too pricey on amazon. When I compare with the 750 and 850, i dont see much to explain the extra cost.
The A950 is about double the A650. It talks about LED backlighting as one of its features. I dont know how important this, or any of the other newer features are. If the A950 is advanced to the point that the extra money can be justified, i can tighten the belt a little and save a little more. I have yet to see one in store however to be able to decide for myself.
Does anyone here have an opinion? Im probably leaning to the A650 but am not set on it... or samsung for that matter. If there are any other brands i should look at, that would help too.
Personally, I am looking at the A950 despite the cost. The blacks are really nice rivaling some of the better plasmas. Of course premium plasmas like the Panasonic Kuros series have amongst the best blacks of any flat panel HDTV. The A950 list loaded with crap I don't really care about like 1GB of built in Flash Memory, ability to play AVI files, etc. I'm looking at it solely for the LED backlighting.
I've seen both A650 and A950 at BestBuy. They seem to look pretty good, but without the ability to play around with the OSD menu, I don't really know just how good images can look. The A950 was showing a movie with predominately low lighting and in a bluish hue environment so I don't really know how vibrant the colors look. Sounds like an excuse to go back and check it out again. I rely reviews of others for the moment.
