I want an e8400 and I want to OC it to about 3.6
I also want to get this graphics card:
HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo,

and need a motherboard that will fit with this CPU and this case:

Antec 300

I only one want G-card and Want a reliable motherboard that OC's well.

So suggestions for CPU cooling, RAM and motherboard would be very well appreciated.

Nick.

also will the HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo 5 fit OK on this motherboard in that case "Antek Three hundred ?"

ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 120mm cooler is about 11mm shorter than the Xigmatek S-1283.

Noctua NH-U9B and Thermalright Ultima-90I are two smaller coolers that might get the job done. 35mm and 20mm smaller than S-1283 and you can mount a 2nd fan on each of them. Thermalright Ultima-90I is the best choice after ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120.

The standard 92mm CPU coolers like the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro or COOLER MASTER Hyper TX2 might not reach 4Ghz. The will probably top out about 3.6Ghz.

Thank you very much - will look into these ones.

What are your general tips concerning size of g-card fitting into a case ?

The HIS HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo is not that big a video card.
It's not longer or higher than a standard 4850 - just wider with the dual slot cooler and no wider than other other dual slot coolera. It will fit in cases much smaller than the Antec 300.

The Antec 300 is the same 8.1" wide as the Antec 900.
And at 18" it's only .4" less deep. It is about 1.1" shorter than the 900 but that isnt a factor for video cards. Usually only shorter cases have problems with video cards longer than 9" (like the 4850).
With long cards like the 10.5" 4870X2 you have to pick your case more carefully.

I know for a fact that the Xigmatek S-1283 fits in the antec 300 cause I got one in my wifes case. Side fan fits too as the fan is ment for the vid card so is low on the door...

Going to go with this - any major objections - keeping in mind need to keep under 500 quid. - currently 487.53 from OverClockersUK

already got a 22 inch sammy

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Platinum Series DDR2 (OCZ2P10664GK

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

Antec Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU

HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM

Some notes.

(1) No OEM cpu
(2) Cant see the P48 DFI mainboard - only the X48 and its heaps more
(3) only relly want to get to 3 ghz - so is the xigmatek overkill

take a look at this:

you click on "quick edit" to edit.

get a p45 it will be better i think.even better if you gonne put another 4850 in since 8x PCI-E 2.0 is 2.5GB/S compare to P35 8xPCI-E 1.0 is 1.25GB/S.you still get the extra bandwidth.
