any that supports 1600FSB and 45Nm CPUs I know X48 chipset boreds do, and some top end P45 chipset also have that support even with stock BIOS i wouldn't be to sure on that through...and SLI 7serius should anyway but are a pain.

What do you want that motherboard to do? What is your budget?

For example if you want some major gaming power you should look at GA-X48-DS5 (with two ATI cards), or eVGA 750i (with two nVidia cards). If you don't want two cards or the budget is low look at GA-EP45-UD3R for example.
In general, P45 is probably your best bet because it's more stable than 750i and cheaper than both 750i and x48.

Well right now I have ~$800, I have an 8800 gts (g92). Also I'm going to need a new psu (750watt good enough?) and 4gb of ram, so any suggestions on those would be great and I'll take a look at the 750i. Oh and it's going to be used for gaming.

^+1 for the i7 system. Simply too much of an upgrade for $100, besides the fact that the Q9550 is $30 more than an i7 920, and i7 will be a big improvement.

**Most X58's can support CF or SLI so look for the one you want, I would look at and EVGA or Gigabyte board.

Yeah, but this way he has 4 GB instead of 3 GB and $100 more in his pocket.

Besides, I think the 8800GTS will bottleneck both the Q9550 and the i7 920 so they'd end up with the same fps anyway.

Well if he dont have 64 bit the 1g xtra wont do much, not to mention DDR3 is faster then DDr2 , and most people do more things on their PC then just game, therefore everything else would be faster.

Its a shame to spend that kind of money and be $100 away from the best, and end up settling for second best.

Well I havn't ordered anything yet, so would it be worth it to go i7? I don't really plan on upgrading for a long time. And if I should go i7 what motherboard and motherboard should I get?

Well, OK, if you don't have the Q9550 yet, go with roadrunner's advice.

Asinger93, why the heck are you telling him 780i for an i7 CPU? They're incompatible.

Edit: I guess Asinger93 was answering the original post, about the Q9550. Anyway, if you're going with i7 920 now then you need an X58 motherboard and a 3x1GB DDR3 kit.

Well getting 6gigs is pointless for me unless I upgrade to vista64, what would be the best motherboard for the i7 a p6t or a differnt one, if you could link me that would be great. Oh and would a 750watt psu be good enough or do i need to go to like 900 to 1000?

This is a very popular i7 motherboard, for example.
EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 X58 $300

This one is cheaper. It only supports two video cards, not 3.
MSI X58 Platinum LGA 1366 Intel X58 $220

Here's the best PSU deal I've ever seen:

PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W $70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341011&Tpk=s75cf

A 750W would be fine if you intend to have something like HD 4870 Crossfire, single HD 4870 X2, single GTX 280, single GTX 260. IT will not do for GTX 280 SLI. It will also do for GTX 260 SLI, but too close to the limit for my taste. It also depends on how many hard disks and TV tuners and fans and lights need to be powered. Overclocking the CPU will also increase power requirements.
