Could a corsair 450w run a 4870?

Lets say i had enough for a video card and i didnt wanan buy another psu then wait like 6 months to have enough money for a new video card so yea...

It can.. but you won't have enough headroom though. Check this out for reference - note that the power draw you see is system load.

As long as the Corsair unit has the two plugs, you should be fine. I was trying to decide between the Corsair 450, and the Antec Earthwatts 500W. They both have 34A on the 12v rails, but the earthwatts was on sale. ($49) As ZeCow point out, it will work, but you won't have a lot of power left over. That might not be a problem, though your efficiency might be low because your PSU is working at 90% of its rated power.

The 450VX only has 1xPCI-e
the 450HX listed on corsairs site strangely says PCI-E 6+2 pin x 6... huh ???

In anycase you can still use a molex adapter if so desired.
