best GPU for 720 p Rez ?

I' m planning to buy a new grapchis card and I just can't which card should I buy. I have a 8600 gt but its getting behind on a lot of new games so I want to play all games at my native resolution which is 1280 x 720p but I dònt want to waste my money. My psu is 500 watts. which would you recommend?

I think an 8800GT (9800GT) would do well, and its only ~$110. That or a 4850, which is a little more expensive, but quite a bit faster (though I'm not sure how much faster it would be at that low resolution).

HD 4670 does very well at such a low resolution, too. But doomturkey's suggestions are also good.

I'd either get an 8800GT or a 4850. I'm guessing that you are using an HDTV with that resolution, so I'd definitely go with 4850, due to superior support for HDTVs and HTPCs in general.

Nah, Im using a LCD panel. I was looking for a GTX 260 but will it make any difference in games like crysis or stalek clear sky?

a gtx 260 will make a difference in crysis.. but don't get it b/c of crysis... get a 4850... it will absolutely destroy anything at that resolution.. and its about 80 - 100 bucks cheaper than the gtx 260... which will net you like 20 % more in performance at that res... if even that... its probably closer to like 10 %
