Hey Toms Hardware Fans, IF YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO READ ALL THIS PLEASE JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION IN THE LAST POST ON THIS PAGE ty :D

I have recently begun to run into some problems with my hard drive, and I'm hoping you can help me fix these problems.

I'll start from the beginning. When I first built this computer, I started out with a Single 250gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 hard drive. I quickly ran out of space, and bought a 300gb WD Velociraptor. I re-installed XP onto a 50gb partition of the raptor (made another partition for storage), and then wiped the Barracuda clean, later dividing the barracuda into two partitions, a 32 gb one and a 200gb one.

Now, I sort of had a plan for what I wanted each hard drive to be used for. I wanted the 50gb Velociraptor partition to be used for XP, programs, games, and it works great for that, things load very quickly. I wanted the remaining 230 velociraptor gb to be used to store my photos only, as they are the only things other than programs that I need to load quickly. so I loaded about 80 gb of photos onto the velociraptor storage partition.

Next I had to decide what to do with the barracuda. I'm saving the 32gb partition for an alternate OS (maybe dual boot vista someday). The 200gb barracuda partition, I decided, would become my general storage drive. On this drive I want all my documents, I want all my movies, all my music, I rerouted anything I download from utorrent, limewire, firefox, chrome, and ie to certain locations on this barracuda drive.

Now here's my problem: whenever I get to any screen that asks me find a location to save anything, or a screen that asks me to find a file to open in a certain program, once I click on the hardrive I want to load up it takes forever for me to show what is inside. I'll get into the little window, I'll hit my computer, i'll double click drive F: (called Barracuda Storage), or whatever (it even happens with the raptor) and then about 5 minutes later I'll see the folders in F: show up. What's going on? Does it have to do with the motherboard? I have a Gigabyte DS3L. After I click on the drive I can hear it spinning, the hard drive activity light on my case turns solid blue, and I just have to wait. I KNOW this drive wasn't this slow before I made it my secondary drive, so what could be happening?

My second problem is My documents. Right now the default location is C:, obviously. Is there any way to make my OS recognize a 'MY DOCUMENTS' folder on the F: Barracuda Storage drive as the default? This would save alot of heartache.

Thanks alot guys, I appreciate everything you do to help me, you all know that :D Please let me know if anything I've asked about needs clarifying and I'll do that ASAP.

Probably not it, but the drive might be entering sleep mode - check Power Options for the drive standby time. Otherwise, Back up your data, reformat (not quick) and then see if that works

Here I was trying to set DVD Rip up. It asked me where I would like to save the files, brought this window up, but when I clicked on F: it took about 5 minutes to get inside. F: only has 32gb used right now!!! this shouldn't be happening. The same thing happens when I click on any of my partitions.

EDIT: One more thing: see how it says I have E: with hulk in it? That's true, my DVD drive has the hulk game in it right now. What bothers me though, is that there is also an L: that says DVD drive on it, and I only have one drive. When I click on L it just tells me i have to insert a disk into L. Whats that all about?
