So I installed a new antec antec earthwatts power supply, and it has a funny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humour smell coming from it. It is almost a mix of burning plastic and the smell you get from an oxygen mask http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_mask , is this normal?

I have seen that when a new unit(various parts) warms up for the first time, but it should not be overly strong unless the computer is in a low ventilation area.

If it is still like that in a few days or the system in unstable contact the supplier(since its new they will give you faster service) for an RMA

Well it was strong at first but is fading now. I have been doing some two hours of gaming and nice and stable, no power spikes either.

My earthwatts 650 had a funk to it for a little bit. It worked fine and supplied reliable power. I assumed it was just burning in and any oils that were from manufacturing were burning off.

I have had the same thing happen. Consider it the "new car" smell. ;)
