Hi people, I haven't touched my hardware in maybe like a year, but I think it's time I start future proofing my rig a little bit more. I'm upgrading my psu to a 730 watt, with 2 12v rails with 24 amps each, in order to prepare for sliing my 8800gt. Next I'm probably going to buy an Antec Twelve Hundred case so that cooling won't be an issue. My current 8800gt jumps to 100C after playing Crysis Warhead, so I'm really scared about things frying. I was just wondering, in this day and age, how 8800gt sli holds up against the current gen cards. I want to play far cry 2 and fallout 3 when they come out. Also, it sort of seems like supply for 8800gts is starting to decrease, so I guess I should get it asap right.

8800gt sli performance is quite good compared to current generation cards.

You can use Rivatuner to increase auto fan speed via a series of profiles.

sweet, yeah, I use Rivatuner. I have it cranked up all the way and it still idles at 67C. My dorm room is just really warm since we're right above the laundry room. Hopefully, the antec will solve my problems.

8800gts with single slot reference coolers vent hot air inside the case. Adding a few more case fans should help.
