I overclocked my AMD athlon 64 x2 6000+ stock 3.1ghz to 3.3ghz and cannot go any further as my system gets too hot. I am going to buy fans etc soon but for now it's idling at 63C. According to http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/details.aspx?opn=adx6000iaa6cz the max temp is 55C-63C. Is this the max idle temps or max under full load?

And another question when I run prime95 it goes up to 70C then I'm not sure if its my cpu fan speeding up, but the temps rapidly drop down to 59C-60C at 100% cpu usage. If there is a way to make my cpu fan run faster could someone link me to a guide or tell me how? thanks.

hey,
i'm running the same cpu @ 3360 with an arctic cooler 64 pro w/a 120mm fan behind it on the back wall and 2 80mm in front. i have the m/b controllers in bios disabled on all fans so they run wide open. my temps @ 100% cpu for 15 or 20 min. never goes above 127* far. or 53-54 cent. i'd put some artic silver paste on it w/a decent after market fan
because these cpu's seem to run pretty warm. as far as oc'ing the 6000 much farther, it's my understanding that they don't have a lot of headroom to begin with, not to much higher to go like some other cpu's. the temps from amd you talked about are recommended max. @ idle, full load or at grandma's for thanksgiving dinner, maximum period, i would think.
