Basically, I just tried to turn on my old desktop, but it didn't start. I tried cleaning it out but that didn't work. I know that there's power in the machine because the fan starts moving for about a second the first time I press the power button. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Reset your CMOS. If it still is a no go, try booting with only 1 DIMM of RAM. Try different DIMMs in different slots.

If it still isn't anything, try a different PSU.

Unfortunately I'm pretty much a complete newb when I comes to hardware. How do I reset CMOS?

edit: changing the DIMMs didn't work
