Hey everyone,

I am in a bit of a pickel because I just ordered a 9800 gtx+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130376

and i have a hp Pavilion a6245n

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] ct=3577457

and it looks like it will intersect 4 of my sata ports and my 9-pin header and on the left corner under one of the picex1 slots there is a pink connector that runs my firewire on the front of the case. if takes a full 2 bays it might hit that to.

but I have looked at alot of pictures and it looks like the cooler is a little away from the board. so my theory is that maybe if I get an 1 in. extension from my pciex16 I might have enough room to bend the wires flat under the cooler.

How do you guy feel about extensions? do you think it would work? Where would I get one?

And that brings us to my next question. How to power it.

I found a 600w psu and 4 gigs of ram for $85 (ocz) that would do all I need it to but it is an atx psu and my case is a micro atx (it is 1.5 in too wide).

The power supply that came with it is a 300w supply and is not enough to power the card.

What I need is between 500w-600w to ensure I always run under the maximum specified rating. and it needs to have 2 6pin connectors a 24 or 20+4 main and a 4 pin processor connector (my processor uses 100w by it's self!) plus I want to get 8 gigs of ram in it so at 15w each gig they would need 120w. I don't know if maxing the ram was in the original 300w because it came with 2.

My friend suggested I get the atx power supply unit and leave my side panel for my case off and duct tape the psu to the top of to case...... Thinking about it......

Finally, I would like to keep my case i have now because I would like to keep the extras like 15 in 1 card reader and pocket media drive bay.

Any suggestions?

I think you will come out of this by getting a new case.

A multi function card reader is <$10, so that should not be a consideration.

You might want to wait until you get the card and see what it looks like. I think it will be OK in the mobo, but will extend about an inch over the motherboard. Do you have that room?

You can get a vga psu that fits in a drive bay if you have one free.

That drive Bay psu looks like exactly what I need!!!!! With the power for the card solved all I need is for it to fit... but I wont know that until it gets here.

That was a good question on the mother board size. Yes it will fit! hp mounted the mother board up side down when compared to the picture so the possessor is on the bottom and the hdd is standing on its end directly adjacent to that. so theoretically I could put a card 3 bays high the whole length of the case approximately 14-15 in.
