The fact is that the motherboard supports up to 800mhz RAM. If i buy 1000mhz Ram, will the motherboard work correctly with 1000mhz and will i reach 1000mhz (with OC) on the specific motherboard?
I know it's a different brand, but I have and EVGA 680i A1, I was able to use Patriot Viper 1066mhz SLI memory. I'm pretty sure you might be able to unlink the ram and test it at 1000mhz. I would use the recommended 2.1v, and very loose timings first.
If you're considering the MIR for your purchase, I'd reconsider that. You are paying cheaper, off the bat for the SLI memory, so you don't have tinker around for the optimal settings. It's pretty much plug in, turn on SLI memory and thats' it.
I was looking into OCZ sli RAM yesterday. I have a P5N-e SLI motherboard.
Before you go and get SLI RAM be aware that the motherboard is on the nVidia 650i chipset and therefore doesnt support the SLI functionality of the RAM. It wasn't implemented until the 680i chipset (v. annoying) according to the table on the nVidia sli website.
If anyone can add any more or contest this i'd be interested to hear it cos, as i've said, i'm looking into upgrading (and possibly overclocking) myself.
