This is my first build,my experience is limited, I have a list of components I would like someone to look over and let me know what they think. Antec 1200 Case Antec Tru Power 1000w power supply MSI K9A2 Platinum MOBO
What about the rest of the build?!!
Post the whole thing and we can help u better
Antec 1200 is major overkill, i got mine cause someone else willingly bought it. Antec 900 is a better alternative, i had it and loved it.
The Antec Tru Power Quattro 1000 is overrated (850 with added parts to handle 1000 which isnt good). IF (as in what do u have that needs 1000watts?) u need 1000watts get the Corsair HX 1000
And for such a good build why an AMD mobo?!?
Amd atm is getting destroyed, go with a nice P45 mobo and an intel chip

if going intel, i hear the new e5200 is absolutely sick (for its price)...if i had an intel cpu, thats the one I would get...dont really now much about intel boards though...

I was originally going to go with an MSI K9A2 Platinum platinum myself. It's an excellent board, but in the end I went with a GA-MA790X-DS4 for reasons of cost. It seems like a bit of an overkill for an AMD board, but if you wanted to go with 4 of Diamonds overclocked 4870 cards or two 4870X2s that's the way I'd do it ^_^. It will be a good board if you want to upgrade your CPU latter or overclock your CPU now since MSI is usually pretty good about the BIOS updates for new CPUs as well as their BIOS overclocking options.
The onboard sound system isn't too bad so you may want to try it out before deciding to go with a Xonar. Also I wouldn't go with a 3850 X2, unless you already have two 3850s and just think it would be nifty to run 4 3850 GPUs ^_^. Go with a 1GB 4850 which costs a little less or go for a 4870.
Really though if you want to spend $150 on a board and with the 9950 BE costing $290 you may want to go with Intel instead since you can get an E8600 or Q9400 for $275. Still going AMD ain't bad, but it's a better buy to go with the 9850 BE which is now just $174 on new egg which is a good price for quad thats around Q6600 performance. Also don't forget that AMDs new CPUs SHOULD be able to run in a good AM2+ board, while Intel's new CPUs will need a new MB.

i think mid range amd cpu is great for budget build but when it comes to their high end might as well gor for intel for the same or less price to get better performance.

if going amd, then you've got plenty of options available...newegg has TONS of combo deals and promo codes on AMD/ATI products so its pretty easy to find a good deal...just fyi, I built my current rig for $400 (after rebates and not including hdd and optical drive)...

1) get a nice P45 board (unless CF is a must). The P5Q series are good, just get the one that has the features u need.
2) Q6600, nice cheap quad cpu.
3) Change the ram to DDR2-800 and save some $$$ (Corsair 4gig, CL4, DHX are good)
4) change out the 2 3850s for 1 9800GX2
5) then u can get a much more reasonable PSU (Corsair 750TX, Thermaltake 850 (750 has no 8 pin), Seasonic 700, Antec Quattro 850, Xigmatek should also be good (CWT build like Corsair) but i havent seen many reviews)
Edit: make sure the psu has an 8 pin PCIE
