I have 2 chips of PC3200 512x2 (1g) ram in my computer. When i boot it up it shows that i have only 1gig in there. How can i make windows recognize the other gig? I don't know if it's only reading 1 chip, or both at 512.

I'm guessing this is a premade CPU you bought from Best buy, or HP, or dell of something and it has a sticket on the front listing its specs.

512X2 means it has 2 memory sticks inside. Each of them have 512 MB of ram on them. So the 2 sticks total 1 gig.

512X2 doesn't mean that each memory stick has 1 gig of ram.

2x512MB sticks is a 1GB kit.

DDR2 is nearly always sold in pairs (or a "kit") as that is how it runs best.

You only have 1GB.
