I'm still hanging on with my 8800GT 512MB for my new 27.5" monitor that runs at 1920*1200 resolution. If anyone have any news regarding the next generation GPU's that'd be helpful, because depending on how long I need to wait, I might get a HD4870, or even a 4870x2 (Nvidia is out of the picture for now, due to their lack of trade ethics from recent events).

I really think youre going to be stuck for swhile, unless you want a refresh from nVidia, or somehow nVidia manages to release a 260x2. The only other card I see coming out is the 4850x2, but nothing on that either. The new/next gen wont be here til 2nd qtr next year, as TSMC has said their 40nm process wont be ready til early on next year, and then testing etc has to be done before actual cards come out. So dont look for next gen til May. Thats what Ive heard

Latest rumors state mid/late Q2 2009. AMD is supposed to deliver the RV870 (Lil Dragon) and people are making educated guesses about it having 960SP. I wouldn't really hold my breath for these, even though they sound pretty good I don't think it's worth the wait, especially since it's only been roughly 3 months since release of the RV770 (HD 4850). If you can wait a month or so, I'd look out for an HD 4850 X2.
