I recently upgraded my computer currently running a 500W cooler master power supply with 2 +12V rails. My parts include:
AMD phenom x3 8750 black edition @ 2.4 GHz(not overclocked yet)
1 Radeon Hd4850
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-DS4H AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
Soundblaster Audigy PCI card
1 SATA HD and a DVD drive
1 120mm case fan

I am planning to overclock my processor to around 3GHz using a modest voltage increase (1.25 to 1.3). Will my current PSU be able to handle the overclock and the rest of my components? If not, I've been looking at these:

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to fry my computer.

I am pretty sure you will be fine with the corsair tx650. If you want its only like 20 more get the TX750, it will allow you to xfire and you have some breaking room.

I guess the question I am asking is if it is necessary to upgrade my PSU in order to overclock or will my current one be able to handle it?

Looking at your spec i would just give it a go with your current PSU, it still has a fair amount on the 12v rail, go slow, do plenty of testing and what vcore...
