Ive recently built a new computer that uses the following mobo and ram:
ASUS P5QL-E Mobo
4x2gb OCZ platinum DDR2 ram
The OS I'm using is Windows Vista 64-bit
Currently, I'm using 4gb of the OCZ ram and I am trying to make use of the full 8gb that I bought. However, when I install all 4 sticks into the slots and turn on my computer, I do not get a signal from my monitor, keyboard, or mouse.
I have tried the following solutions but I still get the same problem:
1. Made sure the mobo and ram were not defective and faulty by Mix n Matching the rams and in which DIMM slots I put them in.
2. Manually changing the ram frequency and ram voltages
3. Updating the Bios
4. Updating Windows 64 to SP1
5. Getting the 4gb microsoft patch (Even tried reinstalling it)
6. Going into MSConfig and manually setting the ram amount under the Boot tab
7. Using a different monitor, keyboard, and mouse
8. Clearing the CMOS battery
I'm able to get the computer working using 2gb of ram and when I try using 6gb of ram, Windows does not boot but the bios does.
I am literally stumped on this. I've tried calling ASUS but their tech support seems to be really "Busy" as I've been on hold for more than an hr each time I call(Ive tried calling 3 times)
Any help or solution to this issue would be much appreciated.
EDIT:Alright so I asked my friend and he suggested that I flash my bios. After doing that, problem solved! Able to run 8Gb smoothly
