New system I need help with a problem. When I turned on the computer for the first time a page came up that says across the top. IDE Channel Master Disk HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability disabled. Next line says PCI devices Listing then most of the page lists the above devices including the one's in my computer. The last line says Verifing DMI Pool Data. The problem is I can't get rid of it. Windows won't load and I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: That's a rather old article, but it could explain your problem too. Maybe the hard disk won't spin, or the master boot record is messed up. Try booting from a CD and running fdisk /mbr.
Is this a new computer? Is your HDD an IDE disk?

It is a new computer. It's a WD SATA 80Gb drive. I did manage to load the mother board disk out of frustration when windows wouldn"t load. The screen that I discribed interferes with getting to the motherboard info. Anyway, the disk does spin as I was able to load the above disk. If the master boot record is messed up how is that fixed?
With fdisk /mbr. You need a bootable CD or floppy. Insert it, push the reset button, etc. You may need to adjust BIOS settings to make the PC look at the CD before the HDD.
I did this once after a Fedora 2 installation failed and damaged the Master Boot Record. I wasn't able to get into my Windows 98 any more That solved it.
