I am upgrading from a dying Dell Dimension 9500 (I think it's 9500, maybe 8500, but anywhoo, it's like 6 years old). It's decided that it wants to cook video cards, and that's no good.
I am a photographer hobbyist, and I need a computer that handles Photoshop CS2 or 3 well (I want to upgrade to CS3 if I upgrade the computer).
I'd like to work in the 500-700$ range, or less.
I've got all of the accessories I could ever want (KB, Mouse, speakers, monitors blah blah)
That's what I was looking at. Seems like I'd still have to buy fans, and cables, unless the MB comes with the cables.
Any suggestions would be great, as I cannot afford to be without my computer for too long, and due to some recent set backs, I cannot just buy what I want (knee surgery had me off of work for 5 months, and some recent home repairs that needed done have tapped the bank so to speak).
Thank you very much,
Rob
Oh the junk system I'm upgrading from is a pen 4 2.0, 1 gig ram, 120G and 80G HDs, and it's cooked too many video cards to get another one.
That will rock compared to what your currently using. The video card is weak for gaming but will work for photoshop.
You will need an OS, so I'd recommend vista premium 32 bit (64 bit if you think you will upgrade the ram in the next year or three)
You might try and build a similar system using a q6600 and overclocking it. you could probably get a similar system with higher quality parts but if your not comfortable building you could do worse than that system
