i'm thinking of AM3 platform and some good OC grade cooler for it
yet my current cpu cooler drives me crazy running on 5000rpm its stock socket 423 cooler blah...

You could try google shopping for something that old (but no guarantees that newer brackets exist for these coolers): http://www.google.com/products?hl=e...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CE4QrQQwAw

FrozenCPU has a fairly good selection of coolers which have Socket 478 compatibility (and do come with AM3 adapters):
The Scythe Zipang 2 does a reasonably good job of mixing performance and low noise. The Scythe Mugen 2 will give better cooling performance, but will operate louder. I'm not sure if Socket 478 brackets will work with a socket 423, but they were both used for the P4's. It may be worth a shot, and then if it doesn't fit, you at least have a decent heatsink for your new setup (so you're not just pissing money down the drain).

While this review is a bit old, it still is a pretty good place to start: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2248&page=4
