Hi guys, actually I planned to get Asus P5E,however the motherboard is currently out of stock and store's staff told me that P5E is very old motherboard so they won't order it anymore. So I'm planning to get GA-X48-DS4 or DS5.I did some research about those motherboards but I only found that DS4 has 6 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors while DS5 has 8 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors. So which one is better for overall?and then I just noticed that GA-X48-DS4 or DS5 require 1.8v RAM,but I have OCZ Reaper 2x2GB dual kit PC2-8500 1066Mhz with 5-5-5@2.2v.so do you think the motherboard will support the RAM?is it compatible?I'm planning to OC too.Can someone help me please?Thank you so much

the gigbyte BIOS has a feature to hide all the "harmfull" stuff which you may need to use in OC and it don't OC as well as the asus boards in reviews etc what CPU are you using ? if q6600 the RAM is over kill even OC'ed.

yes it should do however you may need to put the voltage up on the mobo same goes for any.

personly I would have the asus or even better get the ROG x48 I know its expesnive STILL :O

My CPU is E8400..is that good for my RAM?personally,I like gigabyte rather than Asus but I don't depend on my favorite to choose something that why I'm considering to get Asus P5E since I found there are a lot of good reviews bout that mobo.Unfortunately it's out of stock and the store won't order it anymore unless so I have to order it online. But when I'm counting the price of the asus including the shipping, the difference will be $20 compare to x48 gigabyte, therefore I will get gigabyte. So should i get X48-DS4 or X48-DS5?

DS5 I might land up with one myself tbh. my reason why I choose the DS5 is becasue it has more connectivity on it and why has gigabyte done two version in the first place...it depnds form were your getting them form, how much is the DS4 compared to the 5

Don't worry about RAM voltage - for some unknown reason, GB MOBOs allow you to set insanely high voltages: I just went all the way down in my BIOS list, & discovered that the DDR2 voltage an be set as high as 3.35V!!! The DS5 is esentially a DQ6 without the 'crazy-cool' thingie on the back.
