what type of Hdd & dvdrom Sata or Ide ,did you Motherboard hard enough ports,

if its ide connectt a hdd & dvd drive in a single cable & change jumper to be cable select on both devices & another hdd with one cable as slave..
check your bios settings if you want to boot with cd
