Hey guys,

I recently bought an HP m9300t w/ the following specs for $650:
Intel Q6600 Would like to overclock (if possible)
500 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
3 gb of ram (2 x 1 GB, 2 x 512) DDR2 PC2-6400) Would like to upgrade
Blu Ray player
Nvidia 9300ge (its a joke...) Would like to upgrade
350 watt PSU Will have to upgrade for new Video Card to work?

Product Specifications and Configurable Options (from HP)

Waiting on my new monitor to come in Acer X193 19"

I regret not building my own system because I just don't know how. Also, I'm at a budget crunch at the moment.

So, the very first thing I'd like to upgrade is my Video Card, the 9300ge is just pathetic. I play Quake Wars: Enemy Territory and am probably going to buy Left 4 Dead as well as Call of Duty: World at War.

I was looking at a 9800 GTX+ but I think its simply too big. Does anyone know of a small one or will I be limited to a single slot card like the 9800 GT?

Really appreciate all of your help!

yeah u wil need to upgrade the PSU for the card, given the spec id go for a 9800 GT or summit similar quake wars wont need much more than that n e ways. as for the ram make sure u set it up for sual channel.

as for overclocking u cant with a HP pc, they lock the part of the bios that lets u do it so u cant break thier machine, u could wipe the bios and reinstall it but id not advise that

Hey midliner86,

What do you mean by when you say for "ram make sure u set it up for sual channel"? Also do you know of any cheap 9800GT's or 500watt PSU's?

ment to say Dual channle, DDR2 ram can run in pairs u can buy a kit of dual channle ram 2X1g or 2 X 2g, just make sure u have the same size sticks in each pairing of slots.

if theres 2 slots then just get a 2X2g pair and if you have 4 slots u can either get 2 lots of 2x1g

the hard part is if u have 4 slots and u get 2x2g to run in dual channle then u need to look at the colours of ur ram sockets and u should se 2 coulours put 1 stick in each diffent colour.

basically if the rams in dual channle it can run faster

as for 9800 GT's id search on ebuyer wat i do is look at the graphics cards benchmarks that toms hardware has and try and then look at ebuyer and get the best preforming one for the money.

Oh alright. Yeah I guess ill go with 2x 2gb. Theres a lot of blackfriday after thanksgiving sales so that should be pretty cheap Also I'll look into high performing 9800 GT's. As for PSU's whats a good brand thats afforadable? Again thanks a lot for your input.
