I'm not sure if the graphics card I might buy is compatible with my motherboard or not, the card I'm looking to buy is Radeon HD 4550. The requirements are

# PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
# 300 Watt or greater power supply (350 Watt for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode) is recommended

The motherboard I have is Intel D915GAG I specifically remember when I got it I was told it had PCI express support, but I don't know how to tell if it has the X16 lane or whatever. I also don't know how to tell what power supply it came with. If it helps the computer is a Gateway 831GM.

Reason for that card is because I'm EXTREMELY low on money and will be for months to come.

PCI x 2.0 cards are backward compatiable with PCI x16 slots, so your card is 100% going to work.

Perhaps it is because the bios needs updating?
