Wireless router & modem

Sir,

I know very little about routers & modems. Not by choice, but where I live i am serviced by charter via inernet, telephone. I often work out of home/office and use a PC as well as a lap top. My wife & children also have lap top and use wireless internet. It seen since we switche to charter TX service we had been experiencing more issues with the loss of internet,; not onl wireless but also on my PC which is not wireless but is connected to our router. Chater supplied our iner net modem (Motorola surfboard model SB5101) I recently installed a new router (Linksys Entry -level N Range plus).On a daily basis i loose the internet and or no one can receive wireless in other ares of our home. Sorrry for the long history! My question is this? Do I switch to Charter wireless and use the Netgear Modem/router at 10.00 a month w/49.00 set up fee or is their a router/modem that yoou recommend that I can install my self that will eliminate the constant loss of the internet. I was at 5 bps and Charter today elevated it to 10 bps.
