I was wondering i am going to build a new AMD rig and am planning on getting the Phenom II @ 3Ghz on Jan 8th (for my b-day) and i am not wanting to spend a crap ton on my proc since im gonna be replaceing it in like a month and a half. I was wondering how bad the bottleneck would be on an AMD Athlon LE-1660 Lima 2.8GHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103296) with a 4870 X2. Here is the rest of what i plan on buying:

AMD Athlon Lima 2.8GHz AM2 (Later replaced by 3GHz Phenom II AM2+)
ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe AMD 790FX
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4870 X2
GeIL Black Dragon 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB
Western Digital RE3 750GB
SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner
Antec Twelve Hundred
Antec TPQ-850 850W

Probably depends on the game, many newer games benefit a lot from multiple cores. Games will be playable but that's still a pretty bad bottleneck for that video card.

Are you sure you can't just wait another month?

If its temp, just make sure its as cheap as you can go. Not only does it help you fund the upgrade, it makes you pissed at the low end piece of #%$^#^!! so that you WANT to upgrade. If its just for a month, then go for it.
