This is my first post so dont go crazy if a wirte something wrong!
Introduction
OK so I want to build a new computer and Ive been going crazy deciding on motherboards and CPU.I have a general idea of computers. This means I can build one, install the OS,how to use lots of software(DVD Shrink,Nero,Video encoding, etc), so Im not a complete idiot .
The computer I want to build is a home computer for my use and my mom,but she only plays solitare, lol.Im big on multitasking,(downloading something, converting audio and video, surfing the web, messenger, watching tons of movies(big movie fan),gaming and well the computer I have right now is nowhere near what I need and I mean not even close.
Current Computer
CPU: Pentium 4 2.8GHz (Northwood)
Motherboard: (468) Asus P4R800-VM
Graphic Card: Ati Radeon 9600 256(agp)
Ram: 512(2x256) ddr Pc3200 400
HDD:120 gb
Ideas for New Computer
I´m set on certain specs for the computer such as ram, hard drive, graphic card(not a hundred percent but whatever) and Im having trouble deciding on a motherboard and CPU.
What Ive decided on:
Ram:4gb(2x2gb) 800
Hard Drive:500gb(I download a lot)
Graphic Card: 9600Gt(considering Crossfire option but not a hundred percent)
Undecided
I can´t decide on a motherboard or CPU.
CPU options:
-Q6600
-Q6700
-E8500
MB Options: (big fan of gigabyte didn´t have a good experience with my present MB)
-GIGABYTE EP35-DS3P
-GIGABYTE EP35C-DS3R
-gigabyte ep45c ds3
Other Info
Im planning on being able to play bluray quality movies on computer as Im planing on getting a Hidef moniter and blu-ray bunner when the prices go down a little more.
Q6600 for multitasking
Gigabyte EP45C-DS3R for possible crossfire
HD3870 instead of the 9600GT at same price point or HD4850 for better gaming for a bit more money
it takes an ATI card for crossfire

Garen, if you want multiple Nvidia graphics cards, you're going to want SLI capability. They just use different names for the same idea of connecting multiple video cards. 'Crossfire' is used in the ATI camp. 'SLI' in the Nvidia camp.
Choose DDR2-800 RAM that will operate at its advertised timings at the JEDEC standard 1.8V.
+1 @Dirtmountain. You may never go to dual GPUs, but if you do, they'll have to be ATI cards for Crossfire.
