Abnormal temps?

Recently I bought a GA-EP45-DS3L and intel E7300, hooked everything up and is working.

What bugs me is that the cores are not similar at all, as one core at idle is 44C and the second core is 32C.

Is this suppose to be normal?

Could be possible that you don't have good contact between your CPU and the heatsink. Or the thermal compound is not spread properly. That's a pretty big variation assuming both cores are actually at 0% usage.

Now if one core is not actually at 0% usage, that could be a reasonable difference in temp.

Run prime95 for five minutes and get accurate readings… Idle temps are useless. Also use coretemp or realtemp to get your temperatures.

VoidPhantom I have had that problem sense I bought the e 8400,core 0 reads 17c and core 1 reads 37c 20 c different s.it's probably bad diode sensor on the cpu itself.I check it every once and awhile always the same.it doesn't cause any problem with the cpu just a bad sensor on mine.it should be ok.

I just bought the HyperTX2, so I'll be able to redo the CPU and heatsink to make sure that there is good contact between them.

Going to prime95 it when I get home.

Thanks for the help.

Check what your VID is on the processor... If you have a normal one then use this as an excuse to return it and hope you get an awesome VID :)
