Hello

I have an i7 920 with p6t deluxe and corsair dominator 1600 6gb / on air with Nexus FLC-3000/
I overclocked to 4ghz but cpu temp was idle 80-85 c, got afraid to see full load results and now i have it on 3.66 and temps are idle 47-50 c . No volt changed in the second occasion

I wanted to know what are the safe temperatures for i7 920 idle and full load for 24/7 in 3.66 and if it is safe to work it at 4 ghz with those temperatures..

Also do you think Nexus FLC-3000 does a good job?

To be honest after looking at the cooler I don't think its the best option for OCing a CPU with. The way its set doesn't seem like it would pull air optmially.

But what you have now @ 3.66GHz is probably the best temps load but idle prefered is always around 30-35c.

Hello cjl
what is your cooler?

Also what settings have you set for 3,73 and for 4ghz?

Nexus is the only cooler that has come for 1366 here so...

The case i have is a coolersmaster stalker so the airfolw is good.
But .. i use a gtx 280 so i think this also has to do something with my temps..
Am i right?

I have a thermalright ultra extreme 120 with Arctic Silver 5. As for my settings, I have a 965 (unlocked), so I use 133*28 for 3.73 (@1.21V), and 133*30 for 4GHz (@1.32V).

Wow, those are very high temperatures for such modest voltage and high-end air. Perhaps cramped or limited-airflow case?

I would be running i7 now if I could find a TRUE-RT in stock - bit wary of procuring separate HS, F, and mounting bracket.

Heck no.

I have an Antec Twelve Hundred with more than adequate airflow. Trust me, it's getting plenty of air.

Oh, and just to note, it runs 65C full load (Prime95) most of the time at 3.73, it only makes it to the 70s when the room is quite a bit warmer than it usually is. Normal operations almost never push it past 50C.
