My girlfriend got her new laptop delivered (Lenovo G530) today as her old one died and we are having trouble connecting to our network and was wondering if anyone could shed light on the problem.
The laptop picks up about 8 or 9 other networks but not our network. My own laptop and my PC both pick up our network.
The network adapter we have is an 802.11g adapter which is exactly the same as the adapter on my PC and that picks our network up fine from the other side of the house.
I have checked the settings on my router and it is broadcasting in band (b & g) and as i say both my laptop and my pc with the same kind of adapter pick it up fine.
What is baffling is the fact that it picks up all the other networks within range (which my laptop and pc also pick up) , i have no idea what is wrong.
Have you tried changing channels on your router? Run a wifi scanner and pick a channel that none of the other networks are on. Most routers are set to either 6 or 11 by default.
