My brother has been looking around for a STB / Digital Video Recorder,
He will get one in the new year when the inflated Christmas prices
drop.
He is after a STB with a Duel Tuner and HDD, and do these units have
the ability to burn to disk.
I have suggested a Topfield or a Strong unit, but these units might
not be available in Central Queensland, never the less, can anybody
else come up with some models that have the Duel Tuners, HDD and the
ability to burn to Disk.

Are you looking for digital tuners? For DVB-T, DVD+/-RW, HD the Sony RDR-HX1000
is about the nicest about.

Yes, he is wanting to get ready for the digital takeover.
He wants to be able to watch Digital television and have to ability to
record another station at the same time, and if possible record
programs from the HDD to disk for future viewing.
He was after a set top box but I reminded him that come 2008 or there
about's when analog is discontinued then his VCR would only be good
for watching his VHS movies. And that he would be better off to get a
decent all in one setup now and save buying all bits and pieces later.
Candidates so far.
Topfield - TF5000PVR-T
Strong
Sony - RDR-HX1000
If he can find the unit that meets his needs, and if need be I could
buy it here in and send it up to him.

Also look out for the Fusion DTV and Humax units, not sure about the
availability in Oz.

After Days of fact finding and asking questions my brother purchased a
Teac DV-B420 STB and a LG RH4810W 80GB HDD DVD Recorder. (his choice)
http://au.lge.com/prodmodeldetail. [...] ay=RH4810W I let my head go and purchased the Topfield TF5000PVRt for myself, I
was not planning on buying it just yet but what is done is done, I
haven't had much time to play with it yet.
