Sorry if there is a thread out there about these questions but i couldn't find them or they didnt answer my questions.

I have 2 questions.

1. I have gathered, from research, that there may not be a direct sensor on my mobo but CPUID Hwmonitor is displaying a temperature for it. How is this value estimated?

2. before i start tweaking my chipset I want to a. accurately monitor the temperature and b. know what dangerous temperatures for it are. Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks alot

I have found that this is a very hard topic to gather information about. Does nobody know or does it not matter enough to merit a response? I'm just lookin' for guidelines, I wont sue you if I fry my motherboard.

Mate if you search around the net you'll come across many article on oc'ing a Q6600 on a myriad of boards. I'm assuming it is a Q6600 with the details in your signature.

I use speedfan with a Win7 gadget on the sidebar.

I may be wrong but I've seen from me mate Google that...
For Q6600:
Temp - max T-case = 62c
Voltage - max voltage = 1.372v

thousands and thousands are having fun with the q6600. Just stay within margin assuming you can see the temps and volts running Prime95 Torture Test.
