After getting my quad-core processor, i installed it right away however, there is a problem. when i'm using ANY application, my computer lags a little bit at a time, it's highly noticeable. the lag spikes can range from a tenth of a second to even 2 seconds, i'm confused because i've read so much about quad cores being extremely efficient and reliable. ideas anyone?

A slow hard drive could be in play. If your processer is to fast for your HDD you will notice problems.

Run HD tune, if your transfers arent in the 90MB/s + range your gonna want to get a new HDD ASAP.

Did you do a reinstall of windows? If not that is your problem. Your hard drive has drivers and registy entrys for the other motherboard and cpu, and it is confused because it cant find them now.

You must do a reinstall to take full advantage of your new CPU.

Yup reformat, and 4.2MB is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need 90+ to utilize a quad good.

Your hard drive will most likely jump to a tleat 50 or higher after you reformat.
