Hay Guys.

I've bean Sneaking around the wed looking for Overclocked Extreme CPU's like QX6850,QX9650 ect.

I just got a QX6850, i don't have it yet but I was wondering why most overclocks I see they Crack the FSB instead of the Multi.

Why?

If you get an Extreme for an Unlocked Multi why Crack the FSB? sometimes lowering the Multi.

Now I've seen from my own Overclocks that my E8400 is slightly faster with a 1600FSB then it is with a 1066FSB at the same speed, But I don't want to answer my own Question here.

Because if you Have an Unlocked Multi why Bust your FSB up to 1700-1900 ect?

Just a thought.

would it be better to OC a QX6850 by poping the FSB to 1600 rather then 1333, or just bump the Multi up to 11?

whats better?

Thank you very Much my Knowledgeable friends!

Most overclocks increase the FSB because the multipliers are fixed. With an EE chip, you can do both.

I do not see much benefit in maximizing FSB though. For example, if you have a Q6600 OC'd to 3.6 GHz., you can do (400 MHz. X 9) or (450 MHz. X 8). System performance does not scale linearly with FSB speed. In other words, the second is not 12% faster than the first.
