New build revision

Hello everyone,

I recently posted an initial build for my new gaming pc. I got tons of advice from everyone and made some changes. But I still have a few questions that I would like to ask all the experts at tom's. First I'll give you my current build.

Memory: OCZ 4GB PC2-6400 Vista Upgrade Edition Dual Channel DDR2 Kit (2 x 2GB) $110.00
Mother Board: Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 w/ DualDDR2 1200, 7.1 Audio, Dual GB Lan, 1394, Dual PCI-E x16 CrossFire - $250.00
Processor: Intel Core™2 Quad Processor Q9550 2.83GHz w/ 12MB Cache - $345.00
GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-E Crossfire Configuration - $400.00
DVD Drive: LG Super Multi Security DVD Writer 22x, SATA, Black - $30.00
Power: Corsair TX 750W Power Supply w/ 140mm Fan - $95.00
Hard Drive: Western Digital 640GB Caviar SE16 7200rpm SATA II w/ 16MB Cache $80.00
Case: ANTEC Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case - $110.00

Instead of getting 2 4850's in CF mode I would like to get a 4870X2, but that kind of breaks my $$$ limit. So to adjust for it I was thinking of getting an e8500 instead of the q9550 and getting Mushkin EM2-6400 Enhanced DDR2 SDRAM, 4GB Dual Pack (2 x 2GB) - $65.00 instead of the OCZ, in total that would save me about $175. But do you think changing the processor and ram like that will do more harm than good? And I would also like to know if I can still use that motherboard with the 4870X2 because I would like to keep it in case I do CF in the future. PLUS (lol) I'm wondering if I need any additional cooling or will the case be sufficient.

Thanks for reading all that and thanks in advance for the help. :D

  1. what res are you playing at? planning on OCing?
  2. I don't actually have a monitor yet. I'm not planning on buying anything to extreme right now, probably just a basic 22" Aser or something. I might OC, but it's a BIG might. Most likely won't.
  3. /bump
