Building a new system for myself, an avid gamer, admittedly far short of the collective knowledge of posters to this great site. But I'm learning something everyday from you guys, thanks much. I'm an assembler of parts not a technician or computer pro. Built one over the winter, running fine, that will be given to a handicapped relative. I just put in a 4870 in, replacing 3870's CF. It has a Q6600 at 3.2 on a Asus P5E MB, 4 gigs Crucial Ballistic, Vista Ult 64 bit, Zalman 9700, 750 PSU PC Power, 750 Hitachi HD, 28" Hanns. Quite a difference with a 4870 on games like Crysis and COD4.
Now I have to build another for me. Like I said this system is running great and have had little trouble of any consequence with this parts configuration. My well deserving relative will no doubt have excellent gaming and surfing over the next few years. But not wanting to totally replicate this current system, and wanting to bulk up a bit, I have come up a configuration and will truly appreciate your reveiw and critique.
Asus Rampage Formula.
Q9650 CPU OC'd to 3.6
Zalman CNPS9700
WD Caviar 1 TB HD
8 gigs Mushkin XP Ascent ddr2 PC28500 ram
Thermaltake 1000Watt PSU
Vista Ult. 64 bit
Asus 4870x2 video card
and of course another Hanns "28 monitor which is great for the price.
Thanks for your time and review comments.
