Trouble getting printer started

Hello,
I left computer on updates, and it crashed. I have not been able to get printer to work since.

Do you receive an error message from the printer, either on the printer's display or your computer?

I had printer shown on conytol panel, but fax wizard came up when I tried to print. I got rid of the fax, but the printer alxso disappeared.]

Go to start-->control panel-->printers and faxes-->is your printer listed there?

If not, you need to install it. If your printer came with a disc, you can use that. If not, go to the manufacturer's website, download, and install the drivers.

Was the printer listed?
Did the drivers install correctly?
Are there any conflicts showing in the device manager?
Make sure the print spooler service is running, in the services.msc window.

The printer was noy listed. Drivers installed correctly.

What's the printer model?

You need to install the drivers, and then it will recognize the printer.

Once again I have the ptinter installed. However, it continues to show the fax wizard instead of printing. I select print, but the fax wizard comes up instead just as it was doing before.

If you've installed the software for your printer, go to start-->printers and faxes-->right click on your printer-->select it as the default printer.

Did that, but default not lisyted. I can't recall now where you can list it as a :default:. I'll eventually find it. Thanks alot for your time and help!.

If it's the default printer, it will have a black check mark on it. If you right click on the printer, a menu will pop up, and there will be an option to select it as default. If it's your only printer, you could also delete any other printers in there, and it'll select your printer as default.

Printer is shown as default, but I continue to get "fax wizard" when I hit "print". Computer must have short memory or it is confused. Woe is me!!!!!!

There should be a drop down to change the printer, when you try to print something.
