It seems to lock up when searching my diary, which is just where I need most
to search.
This bug has appeared after a hard reset. It does not occurs each time I
perform a search but most of the time.

Hmmm, exactly which application does it appear to freeze in? (Sorry, I
don't know whether you mean the "Datebook" or a third party application
like "My Diary" ). Does it occur immediately after hard reset, or only
after (possibly corrupt) data items are restored?
Also, it is possible that a third-party program like FindHack might
solve your problems. Unlikely, but it might be worth installing to
find out:

================
I mean the built in Datebook.
I don't remember well if it appeared straight after the hard reset. All I
know is that it never happened before. Of course now that I try to
replicate the problem, it seems to work. This is always the case with
intermittent bugs.
