Hey everybody, looking for some advice and second opinions here. Wednesday I received some upgrade parts for my custom built PC. 8GB of OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066, an AMD Phenom 9950 (Black Edition), and the DFI LanParty DK GX790-M2RS.

Initially I was very pleased with the results, the hardware installed smoothly without any apparent problems, except for every other restart the boot would hang at, according to DFI's diagnostic LEDs, the initialization of the USB devices (Error 50) (Keyboard/Mouse). If I hit the reset button on my tower when this occurred, it would boot up normally. Yeah, I had usb legacy support enabled, and no settings I changed seemed to make any difference. Everything else worked fine though, so I wasn't really bothered by it.

Then yesterday I came home and my PC was sitting, once again, with the diagnostic LEDs at 50 at the post screen, where I had gone to work with it sitting at my desktop.

So I restarted, it booted up normally, notified me that the system had encountered an unexpected shutdown. I checked the event viewer and noticed a ton of EventID 1801: "Application Popup: The hardware has reported an uncorrectable memory error."

Now, hoping, praying that I only had one or two bad memory modules, I shut down and proceeded to try them one by one. It seemed no matter which I used I would still get two or three EventID 1801's, then once I reinstalled all four 2gb memory modules, I received a blue screen right as windows began to load, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". So I shut down, removed a stick, booted up and received a different blue screen with "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT". So I shut down, pulled another stick out, and now it won't even POST.

When I turn the power on the diagnostic LED says "0.", and there's nothing in the documentation about THAT. If I power on with no RAM installed, it doesn't POST or beep at me, and the LED stays at "0.".

So if anyone's got any ideas, let's hear em. I've got an RMA open with NewEgg currently.

Update:

Talked to a guy from DFI, he told me to use the jumper on the motherboard to clear the CMOS settings. I didn't buy it at first, I'd already removed the battery but I guess that doesn't cut it with DFI boards because I went home and tried it out and now my PC boots.

No more memory errors, my vista install is bugged to all hell, but that will be easily remedied once I get home with a format.

After reading some on this board, I'm starting to wonder if those memory errors I was getting were caused by me (noobishly) trying to manually set my DDR2 1066 to use the 1066 settings without adjusting the voltages?

In that area I'm pretty much helpless, so I guess this is the issue we're working on now. PC still tends to hang at error code 50, I need to do some troubleshooting with my USB mouse/keyboard to find out which one is causing the problem.
