When i first put my computer together I was having an issue with one of the wires on the 24pin cable it was loose causing my computer to turn off when the cable was moved even slightly. I tested all the wires and they were fine and then the problem went away, I guess I was able to push the loose wire while i was testing them. I had my video card, memory, power supply, hard drive and system fans connected when I went to turn on the power the hard drive shorted out and started to smoke i shut off the power and disconnected the hard drive. Then I powered up again and everything else was fine nothing shorted out. How did my hdd get fried? Was it because of the sata cable from the power supply? or Was there something defective about the hdd? Can I get WD to send me a replacement? Really appreciate and insight on this issue.
