Is there a Microsoft-compatible XP Disk Management utility to adjust the
size of partitions? (like Partition Magic and others).

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

The alternative is to perform a "Clean Install" of Windows XP.

Another tool to do this is BootIt Next Generation, www.bootitng.com. Its intended as a boot and partition manager, but you can create the bootable floppy or CD and cancel the installation, and use the tools to resize/partitions. With that said, the program is shareware and even if you don't use it as a boot manager, you should register it if you plan to use it regularly as a partition management tool.
