a 3GHZ dual/quad core would keep it from bottlenecking. make sure it has a nice cache size as well

Intel Q9450 will OC to 3.2 with stock voltage 3.6 with small voltage tweek and has a 12mb L2 .This CPU is the only 1 you should get unless you are going for a extreme chip witch is a HUGE waste of money.This chip has same spec - the open x it lock at x8.3.6 on air is NP with this chip.Dont buy any other.

Im about to get a 4870 with a E8400, its a 3GHz 6Mb L2.
I think that is good enough

Any of the e8x00 series cpu's are good. A quad isn't needed, but if you do a lot of multi-tasking as well, it will help.
