The startup folder is a minor part of Startup.

Check in Msconfig for any oddities.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste that information in your message.

do any of these mean the window opens up @ start-up? the rest are just my
programs
desktop desktop.ini NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Startup
desktop desktop.ini MAINCOMPUTER\Ian Startup
desktop desktop.ini .DEFAULT Startup

No, they do not open windows.
Please either supply the information so someone may pick which program
has poor syntax or troubleshoot with Msconfig.

Ian,

That has come out a bit jumbled and I find it hard to follow and
perhaps I should have suggested you double space the text.

Does anything look odd when you see it on the screen?
e.g. does this show as a blank in the command column?
(I see no command)

MISAggregator All Users
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and this?
PowerBar MAINCOMPUTER\Ian
HKU\S-1-5-21-1757981266-1677128483-1957994488-1005\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If nobody can pick something definite, then please try disabling items
in Msconfig and keep rebooting until you track it down and report
back.

....Alan
