Deciding which computer to buy

I am buying a new computer for the holidays. I wish to know whether to get a computer with two video slots or one. The catch is the computer with one video card slot has the I7 processor while the other has a quad core. I am going to be using this computer for gaming and homework. Please advise me which computer I should purchase and why. Thanks for the help in advance.

For homework, any computer should be fine, for gaming get a Dual-Core Intel processor. i7s aren't very upgradeable right now. The gaming performance benefit is almost neglectable
