I am buying a motherboard that has a geforce 7100 with a 630i...
1. Do I need a second graphics card?
2. What does the 630i stand for?
3. What does i mean? (i.e. xxx i)

Just to let you know, I am too old to game!!!!
And I like Nvidia better than Intel on the graphics (GPU)

1. No: If you do not wish to game you do not need another card.
2. 630i is the nVidia chipset on the motherboard: you could consider a chipset to be a sort of traffic cop for information, which ties everything together.
3. 630 is the model, and i means integrated. The model number is relatively arbitrary, and does not hold any particular special meaning. Sometimes a bigger number means a newer model with more bells and whistles, but often times a larger number means absolutely nothing.

The 'i' actually stands for Intel, since Nvidia makes chips for AMD and Intel CPUs.

eg, 680a for AMD and 680i for Intel.

You are never too old to game. Try Civilization-2. It will run nicely with integrated graphics.

I stand corrected.

+1 geofelt, never too old, I was older than you when I started, the only real drawback is that you continually upgrade your setup regardless of how many times you tell your "mature" self you won't do it.

The olny reason I said I was too old is because I asded this question elsewhere and the problems I had where that everyone said that I needed a 780I or a 780a or that I needed more, more, more...You can not please everyone!!! Thanks for the info. P.S. My son is only 7...Gameing is a future problem!

Hey, it took me FOREVER to figure out what it meant, so don't sweat it.
