Head's up!

This morning frostytech.com published three brand new databases for 252 cpu heatsinks that have been reviewed.

There is one database chart ranking cpu heatsinks for Intel; one database chart ranking cpu heatsinks for AMD; and one database chart with decibel measurements for fans that come with cpu heatsinks.

IMPORTANT COMMENTS:

Read the fine print.

The testing method is not the same as overclocking a cpu and playing your favorite game for three hours. Instead they apply 85 watt and 125 watt loads and take several measurements. The results in the chart are increase in temperature over the ambient (room) temperature. Personally I wish everyone listed temps that way because the ambient (room) temperature can affect results.

The rankings will surprise you because they include a variety of cpu's and sockets. They are not broken down.

The rankings do not include testing with new Intel LGA 1336 and LGA 1566 cpu's. Frosty Tech is preparing a separate chart for Intel LGA 1336 which I think will probably apply to LGA 1566.

In case you did not know it, the Intel Core2 Quads are the most popular cpu's so the Intel database should be pretty good.

READ THE FINE PRINT!
