People are probably playing other MMORPG (WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars, etc.) for
the time being. Diversity is the key! Some are likely to come back to
SW:G, some may not.

Me, I'm enjoying WoW for a moment. I may resume SW:G in a couple of months
if I hear some interesting development, like a huge progress on a promised
combat revamp ;)

even the SOE SWG forums have died off. I'm just grinding away until
something new happens in the game. Maybe they'll announce another
expansion during the summer.

I'm still playing. I just hit master pilot. I would change games, but
I'm getting married in the spring and I'll have other distractions.
Starting a new game will not be helpful.

Mostly what happened is WoW and EQ2. That's two major new games at once.
Folks left in droves for games that would "do it right." Well, WoW is
already rebalancing and has a big page up bug fixes, and so is EQ2. Give
it a year, and everyone will be pissed at both games and claiming that
there is nothing to do at high level.

The good news is that by then other games will be out, attempting to "do it
right" And perhaps SWG will get a "facelift" of sorts.

The SOE forums are proving to be a lot more current and useful than this
newsgroup. There are huge threads in there on the combat revamp and on
suggestions for what SOE should do with the 20 new people they hired to
expand the game content. Also the trade forums are very busy. Not much
reason to come here anymore.

I think a couple things happened really:

1-Less people around.
What I mean by this is that while they still probably have SWG accounts,
some are trying out WoW or EQ2, or traveling for the holiday. This
means a general decrease in traffic in general, therefore a large
decrease in people in a newsgroup. After all, newsgroups are NOT as
popular as they once were.

2-Forums.
The official SWG forums, while still censored, haven't been as bad of
late. Yes, there are some issues that have happened (the whole bria
jedi ban comes to mind) that did get whiped off, so this was the only
place to talk about it. On the whole though, they haven't been too
terrible as of late.

3-Dev Response.
The devs can not and will not respond in a newsgroup, period. If they
do, it's under a seperate assumed name and from the point of view of a
regular person, not a developer. It's also doubtful they'd post
anything that might disclose too much, as they'd surely get fired. So,
most people consider it 'better' to post on the official forums, because
their voice will be herd and possibly responded to by the developers of
the game.
